Cobham offers his views on the industry, writing music, leading a band, recording, training/clinics, and other topics.

The book includes note-for-note transcriptions by Cobham, including pieces by the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Miles Davis, and many of his albums, including classics by Spectrum, Crosswinds, Total Eclipse, Warning, Power Play, and more.

Exclusive interviews with John McLaughlin, Ron Carter, Randy Brecker, Wayne Cobham (Bill's brother and collaborator), and Ken Hoshino (Tama drums) are included. Contributions by: Will Calhoun, Dennis Chambers, Gary Husband, Simon Phillips, John Riley, Steve Smith, and Narada Michael Walden.
