Level: Early Intermediate
Keb' Mo's lesson is aimed at players who want to get comfortable with the basics of traditional country blues and then go on to more contemporary blues-based tunes.
Working in the key of E, Keb' shows how turnarounds and harmonized scale passages can be the basis for developing fluid phrases in a Robert Johnson style blues tune.
He teaches his original tunes "Perpetual Blues Machine" and "Angelina", both in A and employing a rhythmic alternating bass style. Keb' Mo includes some jazz-oriented chords (F7b5, G13 and E11) that add spice and interest to the songs.
Keb' switches to his National steel guitar and discusses the basics of slide technique. This compelling, evocative piece combines many of the elements that make Keb' Mo's music so distinctive.
This DVD will help you learn many of the elements that make up solid traditional or contemporary blues guitar playing.
